Justice & Equity

Incorporating justice and equity into my work as a Psychotherapist, Educator, and Consultant is imperative for me and the liberation of all people. The pain thrust upon communities who are marginalized due to the systemic upholding of white supremacy, colonialism, imperialism, and capitalism is too often ignored, pathologized, misunderstood, or simply used against us.

As a Queer Native Tejana, I have experienced the power of acknowledging and dismantling internalized and systemic forms of oppression, while also creating space for intergenerational healing in order to reclaim our collective power.

I do this work to heal my ancestors’ wounds.

I do this work to create a more equitable, diverse, inclusive, and just world for future generations.

 Praxis Group

✦ This group is for anyone wanting accountability and support as they dive into the work of actively confronting how white supremacy manifests in their lives.

✦ Participation in this group will help you build a foundation for continued growth as an accomplice and ally in racial justice.

✦ This group is designed to help you deepen your learning and support your shift into centering praxis in your anti-racism.

In this 12-week course, you’ll gain deeper somatic, social, and historical understandings of:

• Epigenetics

• The Neurobiology of Generational Trauma

• Generational Healing

• White Identity Structures and Narratives

• Anti-Blackness

• Anti-Mexican Violence in Texas

Expectations:

Commitment to the entire 12 weeks. Connection is a big piece of this work. Showing up each week is how you build that lasting connection with the work and your peers! Please note that whichever group you sign up for will be the community you will do this work with for the entire 12 weeks. No make-ups, no attending the other group.

Confidentiality. This is vital to cultivating the vulnerability and safety necessary for this kind of work.

Do the readings. Sounds obvious, but worth emphasizing! The books we’ll be reading are not light. Expect to read about 50-100 pages per week (that’s about 2-3 hours/week).

Active participation in group discussions. You’ll get the most out of this group if you’re willing to dive deep to identify, confront, and speak to your blindspots and biases alongside your community.

Resources. After each session, you’ll receive a recap email from me that includes links to other articles, podcasts, books, and videos aligned with the content we cover each week.
